We believe the best lessons in life can be taught and learned in the garden. At Beardsley Farm, we are excited to share these seeds of learning that will leave a lasting impression on everyone who visits. Opportunities are available for learners of all ages, and for gardeners of all experience levels.
Field trips are a great opportunity to see urban farming up close while learning about sustainable vegetable production. Field trips usually include a tour of the farm, a farm activity, a game, and a healthy snack. Beardsley Farm field trips can be tailored to meet a class' specific interests and lesson plans. Tailored field trips may include a composting or pollinator lesson. We work with students of all ages, but ask that field trips be limited to 30 students. Please schedule field trips at least two weeks in advance, or four weeks in advance for tailored field trips. Our field trips are always free, but we do ask for a $1 donation per child if possible. Picnic space is available at the farm.

We provide pre-school children at the North Ridge Crossing Head Start hands-on learning experiences on nutrition, gardening, and physical education. Children learn about Go, Slow, Whoa foods, try healthy snacks, and participate in garden activities. Our partnership with Head Start is made possible by the generous contribution of the Siddiqi Charitable Foundation.
Workshops and Community Garden Classes
Every spring Beardsley Community Farm hosts a series of community garden classes. These classes are held weekly at CAC Beardsley Farm and are FREE for all community members. The classes range from soils and composting to planting tomatoes and seed saving and are perfect for anyone who is new to gardening or who just wants to brush up on the basics! Our class handouts are available online.
We also host additional workshops and talks throughout the year. Interested in leading a workshop at Beardsley? Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or (865) 546-8446.
