Learning doesn’t stop with the harvest. We plant seeds of knowledge through our interactive cooking classes and gardening workshops, as well as our involvement with schools, after school programs, and Head Start.
We offer classes on how to prepare and cook nourishing, vibrant meals. We welcome groups of any age to our Education Center to learn about making seasonal dishes, soups, broths, jams, pickles more. We also offer classes on meal planning and preparing budget friendly meals. We can also teach classes off site, bringing the classroom to you! Email us to request a class.
We are available to host gardening classes ranging from pest management to weed control. Feel free to request a class here at the farm or ask about bringing a class to your location. Beardsley Farm also hosts Grow Teach Knox in partnership with the Knoxville Botanical Gardens and the Knox County Health Department to help provide tools and resources to educators to encourage outdoor learning. We provide pre-school children at multiple Head Start programs hands-on learning experiences focusing on nutrition, gardening, and physical education. Children learn about Go, Slow, and Whoa foods. They also get to try healthy snacks and participate in garden activities.
