The Green Thumb Program distributes free seeds and plants to 1,000 households in Knoxville and Knox County each year. Qualified applicants receive thirteen types of vegetable seeds and eight tomato plants (four better boys and four sun-ray tomatoes), four pepper plants (four California Wonder bell peppers), and three basil plants. Recipients also receive gardening and nutrition information. Sign up begins in February and goes as long as supplies last.
